How much time have you spent waiting?
Waiting for the letter or the apology that is long overdue.
Waiting for the diagnosis we dread.
Waiting for the right person, the right job to show up in our lives.
Waiting for the news NOT to contain the words COVID, war, poverty or ‘senseless’ anything.
Waiting for the jury to decide.
Waiting for your life to begin again.
Waiting for the darkness to recede.
For the sun to rise.
How much time?
We do so much waiting in our time on earth, you would think we would be good at it by now.
But instead we don’t seem to have much to show for it.
Most of the emotions that accompany waiting pack a big deficit in our emotional health.
We don’t have to live that way…at least we don’t have to linger in that place forever.
What if we traded those negative thoughts for something better?
What would happen then?
What would waiting look like if we infused the element of trust into that time?
Some things and people were meant to exit our lives, even though at the time we were holding on for dear life.
Some jobs were meant to be left in order to provide the space for a better career.
Some trials were not meant to harm, but to sharpen and mold us to become the best version of ourselves possible.
Some actions, decisions, and life choices were meant to build our faith.
What if our best mindset is to sit still and wait without the backdrop of negativity. What if we knew we were never alone while we wait.
What if we thought of waiting less like a trial, something to be put up with and more like an expectation in the middle of chaos, fire and your worst trial ever. An expectation of hope, that brings the gift of calm and peace… isn’t that what trust really is?
Oh, what power would come from that kind of waiting!
There is power in knowing with all your heart, trusting that good will triumph over evil; that love will reign over hate; that life will prevail and victory will triumph over death.
Yes, that is what the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter is about…waiting, watching, trusting.
No one ever said that time was going to be easy.
But worth it? Oh, my, yes…it is worth every moment!
Spend your “Saturdays” in watchful faith, knowing you are not alone, knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that God reigns; that He is present in every single moment, and especially the silent ones, ready and waiting to burst into praise!

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I put my hope.”
Psalm 40: 1-3
“I waited patiently for the Lord;

He set my feet on a rock
And gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,

Thank you, Mary Beth. I have finished the first book, but am working now on technical aspects so I can submit it.

Thank you Phyllis. I appreciate your offer. Pat is such a good friend of mine and she speaks highly of you. I was having a huge technical problem but I believe after tomorrow’s download of Word, I will be able to manage my concern. I will certainly keep your generous offer in mind, if I am not able to get this figured out myself. I have also researched many companies for publishing purposes and narrowed it down to three. I’m hoping one of those works out this summer. I have some friends who have published their work and they have told me it takes quite a while from start to finish, somewhere around 12 months etc. I’m excited to read your books too. Also, I hope to make it to Tennessee some day to see Pat. Take care. Linda
